A few years ago, I began to go to storytelling
concerts and festivals such as the annual
Tellabration event held on the
third Saturday of November, and the annual
National Storytelling Festival
in Jonesborough, TN. I had the good fortune to
study with Beth Vaughan, a local master
storyteller, for a time. Now I tell stories when
the opportunity presents itself. Stories that I
have told range from myths such as Persephone
and Demeter and Inanna’s
Descent, to personal stories with a twist
such as Millie’s Gift of Honey and
Old Skeeter. Stories just for fun, such
as the folktale The Cow on the Roof,
have found their way into my growing repertoire.
Folktales with wisdom and heart, such as
The Peddler of Ballaghaderreen
and The Tiger’s Whisker, are
favorites of mine to tell. This new avocation
continues to develop and to enrich my life and
hopefully others’ lives as well. I am a
‘teller’ at the Baltimore area
Tellabration and other venues as they arise. I
especially like to tell stories as a part of a
conference, symposium, retreat or workshop.
We all are full of stories. Have you told one today? It could be fun!!
If storytelling is something you envision enriching an event that you are planning, contact me for suggestions and availability as a teller.

Storytelling
After many years of listening to people’s stories, their imagery quests, journeying into my own imagery worlds, living life with three children, visiting with assorted, interesting friends, and reading and reading…
I have started to tell stories.
The ancient oral tradition of storytelling is in our bones. If we slow down long enough to appreciate our family elders, they will repeat family stories passing traditions along even today in our busy, technologically-oriented society. We all love to hear the heartwarming tale.
